LATEST April 19, 4:15 p.m. Just before 4 p.m., police provided an update on a shooting that occurred in San Jose on Wednesday afternoon and said the person with life-threatening injuries died. 

The department had said in an earlier report that the shooting took place on the 1000 block of Blossom Hill Road; the update said the location was on the 1000 block of Blossom River Drive. 

This is the ninth homicide reported in the city since the start of 2023.

April 19, 3:59 p.m. One person was seriously injured in a shooting in San Jose on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

The San Jose Police Department said that it responded to a shooting at 1:38 p.m. on the 1000 block of Blossom Hill Road. At the scene, officers found one man with “life-threatening injuries.”

Police asked people to avoid the area as an investigation is underway. “Traffic will be impacted,” the department said.

Police said updates will be provided as they become available.
